 MALIN KUNDANG

Once upon a time, there lived an old woman with her son, named Malin. They lived suffered and hanged with the forest yield.

Mom                : Malin, come here, help me to carry this firewoods.

Malin               : Yes mom, wait a minute. (Malin helped his mother)

Malin               : “Mom how long will this last? I want some change.”

Mom               : “I don’t know Malin, we must be patient and don’t stop praying to God.”

Malin               : “Mom, I have an idea, would you let me go away to change my fortune? Who knows I will be a rich man.”

Mom: ...

Malin and his mother come back to the home, but his Mother just kept silent about his idea. After they had arrived at home.

Malin               : “Mom, how about my idea?”

Mom                : “I think it’s not good idea my son, because if you go, who will Watch me here, don’t you love me, Malin.”

Malin               : “But mom, if I don’t change my fortune when will it last? I Promise mom, if I Could be a rich man, I will come back. Just relax mom, I will talk to Dayat,Dayat will watch you until I come back to home.”

Malin’s mother couldn’t forbid what Malin want. So, she Agreed With Malin’s idea.

Mom                : “Alright, it that you go away, Malin! But don’t forget me. And remember your promise”

           

Malin went to Dayat house for asked him to watched Malin’s mother until he came back and asked Dayat his planed to went away for change his fortune. Dayat is best friend of Malin. They always be together.

Dayat                          : “what happen, Malin?”

Malin              : “tomorrow I want to go away for change my fortune.”

Dayat                          : “what? if you go, who will Watch your mother here.”

Malin               : “for this I come to you, I want to you watch my mother until I come back, please.”

Dayat                          : “yes, certainly. My message for you, don’t forget we in here, Malin.”

In a next day, Malin’s mother accompaneid her son to the harbour...

Mom               : ” Take care your self, and hurry up come back!

Malin               : ” Yes mom, please pray for me, so that I can be a rich man. And You Dayat Please take care my mother until I come back.”

Dayat                          : “Don’t worry Malin. I promise, I will take care your mother. Be careful.”

Mom               : “good bye my son.”

Dayat                          : “Good bye, Malin.”

Finally, Malin went for sailing with a rich man. In the ship, the Captain gave him a job as crew,and Malin received the job. The captain has  the beautiful daughter. Malin active worked so much. He worked without know tired.Malin always think the owner’s daughter. Her name is Ningrum. She is very beautiful.

Malin               : “She is very beautiful. I like her and I must marry her. If that something Happen, I will be a rich man.”

Ningrum          : “hy, do you know my dad, where is he?

Malin               : “ehmmmmm, I don’t know. Maybe he is go to kitchen.”

Ningrum          : “thanks for your information.”

Malin               : “you’re welcome.”

In the village, mom very concerned about Malin’s life. And mom afraid if Malin not came back.

Mom                : “Dayat, where is Malin? I miss my son. I am afraid if Malin not come back.”

Dayat                          : “don’t be afraid, Mom. Malin will come back. He had promised to come back. Be patient, Mom. I’m in here. Don’t be concerned.”

Mom               : “yes, Dayat.”

Malin really want to be rich, because of that he was looking for a way to get in close with Ningrum .

Burglar            : How Ningrum could be my wife ?

Men                 : Sir, In my village there is a way commonly used to lure the woman's heart , a bit risky but it definitely works .

Malin               : How? Whatever it is, the most important thing is Ningrum be my wife .

Child Fruit      : You have to steal Ningrum’s bra. After that you have to wear it and to fasting for 3 days in a row. After that, in the middle of the night you should say this mantra 100 times, the mantra : " I love you pull , Ningrum , abracadabra abracadabra abracadabra " .

Malin               : After that what else ?

Child Fruit      : Once finished you have to restore the bra and make sure Ningrum wear it. If within 3 days Ningrum not wear it then you have to repeat the ritual.

Malin               : Okay , I'll do it !

Child Fruit      : Remember , you should not doing these rituals more than 3 times for the same person or your life will be in danger!

Having failed once Malin finally managed to perform the ritual. Strange and magical, the next day something big happens to live Malin .

The next day, the captain called Malin, because he will rised Malin’s job become as captain in that ship. A few years later, Malin has became a rich man

Malin               : “haha, now, I am a rich man. I can buy everything with my money. Now I must marry with Ningrum.

Malin’s mom very miss her son. Mom tired for waited Malin came back. Dayat always give support for Malin’s mom that Malin will came back and was a rich man.

Dayat                          : “Don’t sad, Mom.”

Mom                : “I am tired, Dayat. I am tired for waiting Malin come back. We never get a news about Malin.”

Dayat                          : “I trust mom, Malin will come back and be a rich man.

Mom               : “are you sure, Dayat?”

Dayat              : “yes, mom. Don’t sad again mom J” 

After Malin has became a rich man, Malin married with the captain daughter, Ningrum. They are very happy. They are a romantic couple.

Malin               : Hello, my honey, what about you think?

Ningrum          : My husband,shall we go on trip to island for honeymoon?

Malin               : That’s good idea my wife, how about Dua Angsa Island?

Ningrum          : Okay my husband, I agree with you!

Malin               : Okay! if you agree, we will start tomorrow.

Tomorrow, Malin and his wife sailed to Dua Angsa Island. On their way, Malin’s ship stop in an island to top up Their supplies. Fortunatelly, that Island was Malin’s village. When arrived, Malin go out from his ship. Dayat saw Malin in the harbour.

Dayat                          : “ Malin... Is that Malin? Yeah, that’s Malin. I must tell it to his mother.”

Dayat went to house for ask Mom about Malin came back. Dayat is very happy about Malin came back. If the Mom know about this news, she was happy.

Dayat                          : “Mom...Mom...”

Mom               : “I’m here Dayat.”

Dayat                          : “Mom, Malin come back. He has become a rich man now!”

Mom               : “Are you sure that you look is Malin?”

Dayat              : “Yes, I’m sure mom, impossible I can’t forget his face. I still remember his Face.”

Mom               : “If you right, please accompany me to go there.”

And Dayat accompanied Malin’s mother to her son. When Reached There, Malin’s mother meet his son.

Mom                :  “Malin... Malin my son! Malin....”

Ningrum          : “Who is that old woman, my husband?”

(Malin can’t answered Ningrum’s question)

Ningrum          : “who is she, my husband?”

Mom               : Malin, who is her? Is she your wife? She is very beautiful,come here...!

Ningrum          : “argh, don’t touch me!”

Malin               : “Don’t touch her! You are dirty, her skin can be dirty too!”

Ningrum          : “Who is that old woman? Is she your mother? She is very dirty.”

Malin               : “I don’t know, my wife...!”

Mom                : “Malin, my son. Do you remember about your promise? I’m your mother!”

Malin               : “Who are you poor old woman? I don’t know you. My mother isn,t dirty like you...!!

Mom                : “Malin... I’m your mother. I have reveal and raise you. Malin... Malin...!”

Ningrum          : “Hei you, go away now.”

Mom                : “Malin... Malin...!”

Malin               : “Go away... Go away now!”

Dayat                          : “MALIN! Do you forget your mother? Do you forget me, your best friend? This is your mother, Malin.”

Malin               : “I don’t know who are you and the old woman. I don’t have best friend like you.”

Dayang            : “you’re evil. You disobedience to your mother.”

Mom               : “can you remember me, son? I am your mother.”

Dayat                          : “remember your mother, please. She is always wait you to come back. Remember your promise, Malin.”

(Malin dragged his mother be rude until his mother drop down)

Malin               : Don’t call me as your son, dirty old woman...! come on, my wife. We must go from this place.”

Ningrum          : “yes, my husband.”

(After pushing his mother away, Malin came back to his ship)

Mom                : Malin... Malin... Don’t leave your mother Malin...! My God, how could you say that? I can’t take his anymore. I curse you... Turn into a stone...!!

After that, suddenly coming storm destroying Malin’s ship, flash of Lightning coming to his body. And... at glance Malin remembered what he did to his mother and also how to get his wife and his wealth

Malin               : What’s happening? My body... I can’t move! Mom... I’m sorry mom... I’m sorry...!!!

Ningrum          : What’s happening...?? What’s happen to you, my husband? Why...??!!MALINNNNNNN!!!!!

And Malin became a stone when he was begging to his mother. Ship’s crew and his wife sunk down to boottom of the sea. That’s result if we did a bad things and rebellious to our parents especially to our mother.

LUTUNG KASARUNG

            A long time ago in west Java there was a kingdom. The king was Prabu Tapak Agung. He had two beautiful daughters and he has no son. Purba Rarang was his first daughter, and Purba Sari was his second daughter. When the king was about to pass away he gave the throne to his second daughter, Purba Sari.

Princess Purbarang  : You would never be able to become the next queen because I am older                                         than you and I am more suitable for this throne!
Prabu Tapak Agung : Purbasari! Come here my dear. (Coughing)
Princess Purbasari    : Yes, Dad. I’m going there now. (Walking towards the king)
Prabu Tapak Agung : My daughter, Princess Purbasari. I am old now. I cannot lead this                                                             kingdom forever. You must replace my throne as a king.
Princess Purbasari    : But, How about Purbararang? She is your first daughter. I think she                                              has more competencies to replace your throne as a king. Not me Dad.
Prabu Tapak Agung : That’s true honey. She is my first daughter. But I want you to replace my                                    throne as a king of this kingdom.

            Hearing this, Purbararang was angry.

Purbararang              : You cannot ask her to be the queen, Dad. I'm older than her. The throne                                       is supposed to be mine, not her!
Prabu Tapak Agung : I’m sorry Purbararang. But your sister Purbasari is the most proper                                                person to be the next king for this kingdom.
Purbararang              : I can’t believe it Dad! She can’t be the next queen! I’m the next queen.                                        Remember that!

            Purba Rarang was very disappointed. She thought that she deserved to replace her father as the ruler. She discussed the situation with her fiancé, Indrajaya. Then, they set a bad plan together.

Indrajaya                   : Hi Sweetheart. How are you doing? You look so angry.
Purbararang              : Yes, I am extremely angry.
Indrajaya                   : Oh, just tell me your problem honey.
Purbararang              : He will give the throne to Purba Sari. Whereas, I am his first daughter.
Indrajaya                   : What? Are you sure?
Purbararang              : Yes, I am very disappointed. I must do something to fail the ceremony of                                    throne delegation.
Indrajaya                   : How about going to the witch in the jungle?
Purbararang              : What for?
Indrajaya                   : To make Purbasari sick. We can ask the witch to put a spell on Pubasari.                                       It’s great, isn’t it?
Purbararang              : Yeah, that’s a good idea. Thanks my dear.

            In the mean time, in the Khayangan world there lived Demi God. His name was Guru minda. One day, he heard a voice and he didn’t know from where that voice came.

Voice                           : Guruminda, you should learn more about human live.

Guruminda                : What? Who are you? Show yourself!
Voice                           : You didn’t need to know who I am . You will be sent to human world.
Guruminda                : What do you mean? Why should I do this?
Voice                           : You didn’t need to know anything. Just sleep now and prepare yourself.

            Suddenly, he turned to sleep after he had seen a flash light. When he woke up, he felt weird himself.

Guruminda                : What happen to me? Where am I? And what with this hair!
Voice                           : You have turned into black monkey but you shouldn’t worry about that.
Guruminda                  : How can you say that, I’m not a demiGod anymore.
Voice                           : Just stay here, and you will know what happen.

            In the other situation, Purbarang and Indrajaya went to a witch and asked her to put a spell on the orange juice. Then, they came back again to the palace. After that, they called Purbasari and they asked her to drink the orange juice.

Indrajaya                   : Hey, Purbasari. Come here. We have something for you.
Purbararang              : My Sister, you will be the next queen for this kingdom. As my honor,                                           let’s drink together.
Purbasari                   : Thank’s my sister. I hope I can do my job perfectly. (She drank a juice).

            In the next day, Purbasari had bad skin. There were black dots all over her body. Consequently Purba Rarang had a reason to tell people that her sister had a great sin and she was cursed by God. She told her people that such a person did not qualify to be a leader.

Purbararang             : Daddy! Come here quickly. Oh, my God!
Prabu Tapak Agung : What Happened?
Purbararang              : Look at her! There are so many black dots. Purbasari is cursed by God.
Prabu Tapak Agung : What happened with your skin my daughter?
Purbasari                   :  I don’t know, Dad. When I woke up, the black dots were there.
Purbararang              : Oh, that’s very disgusting!
Purbasari                   : Can my skin be normal again? I want to be the next queen.
Purbararang              : You are not as beautiful as I am. You cannot be the queen. Instead, you                                       have to leave this palace and stay in a jungle.
Purbasari                   : Oh, God. What happened to me? Dad, must I go to the jungle and live                                         there alone?
Prabu Tapak Agung : Yes you must go to the jungle and live there alone. Army! Come here                                           quickly!
Army                          : Yes My lord!
Prabu Tapak Agung : Send my daughter to the jungle!
Army                          : Yes, your majesty. What else do you order me to do?
Prabu Tapak Agung : After that, don’t forget to build a wooden house for her.
Army                          : Yes your majesty. Let’s go Princess.
Purbasari                   : I will miss you, Dad.
Prabu Tapak Agung : Me too. Be careful my dear.
Purbararang              : Good bye, Purbasari. I hope you can be happy live in the jungle. I hope                                        you can have a lot friend there. Hahaha.

            Now, she had to stay in the jungle. Every day, she spent her time playing with the animals there. There was one monkey that always tried to cheer her up. It was not just an ordinary monkey, he had magical power.

Lutung Kasarung     : Good morning, my beautiful Princess. You look so sad.
Purbasari                   : Hey monkey. You can talk with human?
Lutung Kasarung     : Yes, Princess. I can talk with human. Why do you live here alone                                                  Princess? Where is your servant?
Purbasari                   : All of my servant is not accompany me in here, monkey. I’m alone.

                                    My Father had ordered me to leave the palace and lived here.
Lutung Kasarung     : Why did the King do that?
Pubasari                     : Because of this.

            Princess Purbasari showed the black dots that all over her body to the monkey. It was very surprised.

Lutung Kasarung     : Oh, my God. What happened with your skin?
Purbasari                   : I don’t know why. When I woke up, the black dots were there. After that,                                   my sister and my father ordered me to go out from the palace and lived in                                      this forest.
Lutung Kasarung     : Don’t be sad Princess. I will help you.
Purbasari                   : What can you do? You are just a monkey.
Lutung Kasarung     : Trust me, Princess. I will help you.
Purbasari                   : Okay, I believe in you.
Lutung Kasarung     : Right then, I will start to meditation to ask some help. You would better                                      praying to God. Okay?
Purbasari                   : Okay.

            Lutung Kasarung planned to help Purbasari. One night when there was a full moon he sat meditation. He was praying to God. Suddenly, a spring emerged beside Lutung. It became bigger and bigger and finally it became a lake. The water was very clear and aromatic. The next day Lutung came to see Purba Sari.

Lutung Kasarung     : Princess, I have already made a lake for you. Just take a bath in there.                                           And you will be recovered.

            And then, Princess Purbasari toke a bath in the lake.

Purbasari                   : Wow! Look at this. All of the black dots are disappeared. You have                                             cured me. Thank you very much monkey!
Lutung Kasarung     : You’re welcome Princess.
Purbasari                   : I must go back to the Palace before my sister Purbararang becomes the                                         next queen.
Lutung Kasarung     : Are you sure? You want go back to the palace now?
Purbasari                   : I am sure. Will you accompany me to go to the palace?
Lutung Kasarung     : Ok, Princess. I will accompany you.

            After that, Lutung Kasarung and Princess Purbasari went to the palace. Purbararang was very shocked. She was very surprised when she saw Purba Sari was in good condition and looked beautiful. Her evil heart led her to find a way to beat her sister.

Prabu Tapak Agung : Oh, my God. Purbasari, my daughter, you have recovered.
Purbasari                   : Yes, Daddy. I am ready to be the next queen now.
Purbararang              : Wait! Those who have longer hair will be the queen.
Purbasari                   : My hair is longer than yours. So, I am will be the next queen, won’t I?
Purbararang              : Ok. Your hair is longer than mine. But a queen must have a handsome                                          husband. If my fiancé is more handsome than yours, then I will be the                                            queen, but if your fiancé is more handsome than mine. You will be the                                                 queen.

            Purbasari was sad. She knew Purbararang's fiancé, Indrajaya, was handsome. And she did not have a fiancé yet.

Purbararang             : Here is my fiancé, Indrajaya. Where is yours?
Purbasari                   : Actually, uhmmm.
Lutung Kasarung     : I am her fiancé.
Purbararang              : Is he your fiancé? Your fiancé is a monkey? Poor you, Purbasari! Haha!

            Suddenly, Lutung Kasarung changed into a very a handsome man. He was even more handsome than Indrajaya.

Lutung Kasarung     : Let me to introduce myself.  Actually, my name is Sanghyang                                                       Guruminda. Nice to meet you, Princess.
Purbararang              : No! It’s impossible! Your fiancé must be the monkey! You can’t be the                                        queen! I am the next Queen.
Prabu Tapak Agung : My dearest daughter, I am very sorry for having ordered you to life in the                                    forest. I’m really regret for that.
Purbasari                   : No problem, father. If you had not ordered me to live in the forest, I                                            would have not met Sanghyang Guruminda. He had been guard me when I                                    lived in the forest.
Prabu Tapak Agung : Thank you for helping my daughter when she lived in the forest. As my                                        gratitude, you will marry my daughter, Princess Purbasari.
Lutung Kasarung     : Thank you very much, your Majesty. I feel very honored.

            Purba Sari became the queen and married to Lutung Kasarung. She forgave Purbararang and her fiancé and let them staying in the palace.

TELAGA WARNA SINGKAT

Long long ago there was a kingdom in West Java. The kingdom was ruled by king. People called their king His Majesty Prabu. Prabu was kind and wise king. No wonder if that country was prosperous. There’s no hunger in this kingdom.

It was very happy condition. But it was pity that prabu and his queen hadn’t got any children. It made the royal couple very very sad. Some old man who wa respected by Prabu suggested the king to adopt a child. But Prabu and the Queen didn’t agree.

Old man          : “Prabu, I suggest you adopt a child. Because you haven’t child to change    you rule the king when you have old.”

King                : “I don’t agree with your suggest!”

Old man          : “Why you don’t agree Prabu? All people in this kingdom want just ypur child who change when you not rule this kingdom.”

King                : “Because for us, our own daughter or son is better than adopted children. Do you think like that my wife?”

Queen              : “Yes, I think so. Our own daughter or son is better than adopted children.”

The Queen was very sad. She often cried. That was why Prabu decided to go. He went to the jungle. There he prayed to God. Everyday ge begged for a child.

King                : “Ohh my God. Please, give me and my wife a child. I will promise to you, if you give me a child I will love them.”

dream comes true. A few months later, the queen got fregnant. All people in the kingdom felt happy. They sent many presents to the palace to express their happiness.

People in         : “I bring this presents to you Your Majesty. This is the express from me.

the kingdom    I feel happy if Queen get fregnant.”

King                : “Thank’s a lot.”

Nine months later a princess was born. People sent their presents again as a gift to a little princess. This baby grew as a beautiful teenager then.

People in         : “Ohh.. How beautiful you are.”

Queen              : “Thank you. She is the daughter who I wait during time.”

People in         : “This is, I bring it for the beautiful baby.”

King                : “Thank you very much. I accept your presents.”

Prabu and Queen love their daughter so much. They gave what ever she wanted. It made Princess a very spoiled girl. When her wish couldn’t do that. Even though the princess behaved badly, her parents loved her, so did the people in that kingdom.

Day by day, the princess grew more beautiful. No girls couldn’t compare with her. In a few days, Princess would be 17 years old. So, people of that palace. They bought many presents for her. Their presents gift were very beautiful. Prabu collected the presents. There really many presents. Then Prabu stored them in building. Sometimes he could take themto give to his people.

People in         : “Your majesty Prabu, this is I bring a present to you beautiful daughter.

the kingdom    I’m  sorry I just can give your daughter like this. Please accept my present.”

King                : “I will accept your present. Thank you for this present.”

Prabu only took some gold and jewels. Then he brought them to the gold smith.

King                : “Please make a beautiful necklace for my daughter.”

Goldsmith       : “My pleasure, Your Majesty.”

The goldsmith worked with all his heart and his ability. He wanted to create the most beautiful necklace in the word because he loved the princess.

Goldsmith       : “This is the beautiful necklace. I make it with my heart and my ability. I hope you happy with this necklace.”

King                : “Ohh… how beautiful this necklace.”

The birthday came. People gathered in the palace field. When Prabu and Queen appeared, people welcomed them happily. Prabu and his wife waved to their beloved people.

Cheers were louder and louder when the princess appeared with her fabulous pretty face. Everybody admired her beauty. Prabu got up from his chair. A man gave him a small and glamorous pillow. A wonder full necklace was on it. Prabu took that necklace.

King                : “My beloved daughter, today I give this necklace to you. This necklace is gift from people in this country. They love you so much. They presented it for you to express their happiness, because you have growing to a women. Please wear this necklace.”

Princess accepted the necklace. She loked at the necklace in a glance.

Princess           : “I don’t want to accept it! It’s ugly!”

Then she threw the necklace. The beautiful necklace was broken. The gold and jewels were spread out on the floor.

Everybody couldn’t say anything. They never thought that their beloved princess would did that cruel thing. Nobody spoke. In their silence people heard the queen crying. Than everybody was crying.

Then there was a miracle. Earth was crying. Suddenly, from the underground, a spring emerged. It made a pool of water. The place was getting full. Soon place became a big lake. The lake sank all of the kingdom.

Nowadays the water on that lake is not as full as before. There is only a small lake now. People called the lake “Talaga Warna”. It is mean “Lake of Colour”. It’s located in Puncak, West Java. On a bright day, the lake is full of colour. So beautiful and amazing. These colors come from shadows of forest, plants, flowers, and sky around the lake. But some people said that the colours are from the princess’s necklace, which spreads at the bottom of the lake.

THE GOLDEN SNAIL

Scene 1
Long time ago, In Daha Kingdom, lived two beautiful girls named Dewi Kirana dan Dewi Galuh.

The King         : “Dewi Kirana, tomorrow you will enganged with Raden Inu Kertapati from Kahuripan Kingdom.”
Dewi Galuh     : “what?”
Dewi Kirana    : “yes, my father I will do it for our kingdom, for you, and for my love.”
Dewi Galuh     : “why do not me? This is nor fair for me!”

The day when Dewi Kirana enganged with a kind and wise person from Kahuripan Kingdom named Raden Inu Kertapati.

The King         : “ladies and gantleman! Today, my daughter Dewi Kirana enganged with Raden Inu Kertapati. May they will be happy until the end of time and they will marry one month after this moment.”
Inu Kertapati   : “thanks a lot, Dewi Kirana. I will always love and prevent mu forever.”
Dewi Kirana    : “I just can give my heart for you. Thank you so much.” 

The ceremonial was end. Dewi Galuh felt envy, then she went to a witch.
Dewi Galuh     : “hey nyai, I very envy with Kirana because she enganged with Inu Kertapati. Bost her into something really disguisting and keep away from Inu Kertapati.”
The Witch       : “yes your majesty. I will do.”

Scene 2
The witch and Dewi Galuh met Dewi Kirana who was walking alone outside the palace.
Dewi Kirana    :“what happend, Galuh. Who is she?”
The Witch       : “don’t ask a lot of questions!”

The witch read a magic formula, Dewi Kirana turned into a gold snail.
Dewi Galuh     : “look sharp! Throw it to the river. Good bye, Kirana. I will arrogate Inu Kertapati from your self.”

Scene 3
One day, a old woman looking for fish in the river.
The Old Woman         : “nothing fish for me? Hah! What is this? Gold snail? So beautiful. ( then, the old woman back to home and put the gold snail into the crock.)

Scene 4
the next day, the old woman went to the river to catch some fish. When she back to home, she was surprised because saw a lot ofdelicious on her table.
The Old Woman         : “Oh my God!  Who would have sent all of this food? Thank you so much.” (the old woman, ate all of that food. The same thing happened everyday.)

Scene 5
The old woman very curious where all the food came. She pretended to went to the river and peeked from behind the house. 

The Old Woman         : “ha?” (the old woman surpriesed when looked the golden snail change into beutiful girl who was cooking for her and then the old woman entered to the kitchen.) “who are you girl?”
Dewi Kirana                : “I’m a princess from Daha Kingdom. A witch envoy my sister change me into a golden snail because she was envy with me.”

After that, Dewi Kirana changed again into the golden snail and the old woman greatly amazed.

Scene 6
Raden Inu Kertapati looked for Dewi Kirana with turned into ordinary people. And then he met a raven which was a wicth.
The Witch       : “let me show you the way to find Dewi Kirana.”
Inu Kertapati   : “you know it? (the rave keep nodding.) Okay,let’s go!.”

The rave showed the wrong way to Inu Kertapati.

Scene 7
Along the way, they met a hungry old man.
Inu Kertapati   : “so pity. It’s a bit for you..”
The Old Man   : “thanks a lot, boy. You are so kind with me.”

The old man was having magic. He immediately hit the rave with his stick. The rave was destroyed.
The Witch       : “aaaaaaa!!”
The Old Man   : “it is incarnation of the witch. It will mislead your way. Let me accompany you. ”

Scene 8
They arrived at a hut in the Dadapan village to asked for some water to drink.
Inu Kertapati               : “excuse me.”
The Old Man               : “may I ask for some water?”
The Old Woman         : “of course,wait a minute.”
The Old Man: “okay.”

Inu Kertapati saw Dewi Kirana from the window.
Inu Kertapati   : “this is you, Dewi Kirana?”

Dewi Kirana turned.
Dewi Kirana    : “raden Inu Kertapati?” (embrace)

The curse was gone. The old man and the old woman come happy with their meeting. And they back to the pallace.

Scene 9
They arrived at the pallace.

Dewi Kirana    : “you are very cruel, Galuh.”
Inu Kertapati   : “you will get a punishment from the king.”
Dewi Galuh     : “what do you mean?This is immposible! You! You!You! Dewi kirana! No! It’s immposible........”

Dewi Galuh run away from the pallace and plunged into the revine.

Scene 10
Inu Kertapati dan Dewi Kirana merried
Dewi Kirana    : “kanda, I feel so happy.”
Inu Kertapati   : “me too, dinda.”
The old man and the old woman who very kind with them also stayed at the pallace. All of they, lived happily ever after.

TANGKUBAN PERAHU

Once upon a time in West Java lived a wise king who had a beautiful daughter. Her name is Dayang Sumbi. Dayang symbi has a husband named Tumang. Tumang was actually a prince, he was spelled by a bad witch into a dog.

Several months later, they had a son. His name is Sangkuriang. He is handsome and healthy boy. He didnt know that his father is the dog. Sangkuriang likes hunting very much, he often went hunting to the woods using his gun. When he went hunting, Tumang always go with him.

One day, Dayang Sumbi wanted to eat a deer’s heart, so she asked her son to hunt for a deer.

Dayang Sumbi                : “Oh my dearest son, today, suddenly I feel like eating a deer’s heart. Will  you go hunt it for your mom?”

Sangkuriang                    : “Of course, mom. It’s my pleasure to do it. I will go hunt to the wood right now. Bye-bye, Mom. Let’s go, Tumang!”

 Then Sangkuriang went to the wood holding his gun and with his faithful dog, Tumang. But, after several days in the wood, Sangkuriang couldn’t find any deer. They were all disappeared. Sangkuriang was exstremely tired and desperate. He sat below on the tree and talk to himself.

Sangkuriang                    : “What should I do right now? I couldn’t find any deer after several days  hunting. What should I do now?!”

He looked at Tumang. His faithful dog is laying beside him right now. Tired. Then Sangkuriang holds his gun  and shot Tumang right in its heart.

Sangkuriang                    : “Sorry Tumang, its doesnt seem right, but I have to find an animal heart to replace the deer’s heart”

Sangkuriang really didn’t want to disappointed his mother so he killed Tumang. Sangkuriang didn’t know that Tumang is actually his father. Sangkuriang went home and bring Tumang’s heart to give it to his mother.

Sangkuriang                       : “Mom, here it is. Deer’s heart. I have been looking for it for several days. All deers were all disappear suddenly. Then I found this only one deer this morning.”

Dayang Sumbi                   : “Awww.. thank you so much, my dearest son. Anyways, where is Tumang? I don’t see him around with you.”

Sangkuriang                       : “Ermmm…”

Sangkuriang                       : “… please, don’t be mad at me if I’m being honest to you. I really couldn’t find any deer at the jungle. And… and I don’t want to disappoint you. So I killed…. Tumang.”

Dayang Sumbi                   : “WHAT? WHAT DID YOU SAY, SANGKURIANG? YOU KILLED TUMANG? YOU KILLED HIM, HUH? YOU KILLED HIM?”

Dayang Sumbi was very upset that she couldn’t handle her emotion so she hit Sangkuriang at his head. Sangkuriang was wounded. There was a big scar on his head. Dayang Sumbi also revelled him.

Dayang Sumbi                   : “YOU ARE SUCH AN USELESS SON. STUPID!! NOW, STAY AWAY FROM ME! LEAVE ME ALONE! GET OUT FROM THIS HOUSE! GO!!!!!!!”

*Dayang sumbi leaves the room*

Days by days, weeks by weeks, months by months, years by years. Many years passed and Sangkuriang has grown up to a very strong and attractive young man. But, he still has a scar on his head which was being hit by his mother. Sangkuriang wandered everywhere, one day he arrived at his own mansion but didn’t realize it. There, he met Dayang Sumbi.

Sangkuriang                       : “Wow.. How beautiful is that woman. I need to know her. But… her face looks so familiar, but ah nevermind.”

Sangkuriang                        : ”What’s your name miss ? “

Dayang Sumbi                    : “My name is Dayang sumbi sir, and what is your name sir ? “

Sangkuriang                : “My name is Sangkuriang

At the time, Dayang Sumbi was given an eternal beauty by God, so she is forever young. Both of them, didn’t recognize each other. They fell in love at the first sight. They chat and share about stuffs until the sun goes down.

Dayang Sumbi                        : "I think there's a scar on your head?"

Sangkuriang                : "Really?"

Dayang Sumbi                        : "Yes. Can you tell me why the wound? " 

Sangkuriang suddenly remembered little of her past.

Dayang Sumbi                        : "What was the cause of the wound?"

Sangkuriang                : "That hit by my own mother."

Dayang Sumbi                        : "? Huh Hit?"

Dayang Sumbi almost fainted because  too upset that she is now realized that this man was her son.

Dayang Sumbi             : “Oh my God! Hey  you’re my son!”

Sangkuriang                 : “What? Mom? You’re not my mom, she’s old now! Haha.. You must be kidding me.”

It was impossible for them to marry, Dayang Sumbi told him about that but he doesn’t believe it. He wished to marry her soon. So, Dayang Sumbi gave a very difficult condition. She wanted sangkuriang to build a yacth in a night, she said, she needed that for honeymoon.

Dayang Sumbi                   : “It is impposible for us to marry! You are my son, Sangkuriang. See that scar on your head? I hit you long time ago, remember? We can’t..”

Sangkuriang                       : “Me? Your son? Like seriously, if you were my mom, you would be way older than me.”

Dayang Sumbi                   : “No… you are my son, Sangkuriang. I am your mommy. Dayang Sumbi!”

Sangkuriang                       : “No way! You must be kidding me!”

Dayang Sumbi                   : “Okay if you don’t believe me, fine. I will marry you.. BUT.. build me a yacth, in a night !”

Sangkuriang                       : “Okay, if I finished it in a night, you must marry me !”

*Genie comes out from a door*

Sangkuriang                      : Genieeeeee !! Genieeeee

Genie                                 : I am here master

Sangkuriang                      : “Oh, Genie. I need your help, my future wife wants me to build a yacht for her in a night.”

Genie                                 : “Ha.. So easy master. I could make it in less than a night.”

Then he started building the yacth. It was almost morning when he nearly finished it. Meanwhile, Dayang Sumbi keep watching on them. She was worried, the she made lights in the east by waving a orange sarong and she made the rooster wake up. The genie thought that it was already done. It was time for it to left Sangkuriang alone. Without its help he couldn’t finish the yacht.

Genie                                       : “what….. I gotta go, master. The sun is going up. Bye bye”

Sangkuriang                            : “Nooooo dont leave meee…”

Dayang Sumbi                        : “Oh.. I’m really sorry to say but… you failed. I am sorry but I can’t marry you, Sangkuriang. It’s morning already and.. you haven’t finished the yacht I asked you.”

Sangkuriang was very angry and he kicked the yacht, and the yacht turned out to be Mount Tangkuban Perahu. It means, the upside-down yacht, because from a distant it looks like so.

TIMUN MAS

Narrator           : Once upon a time, in a place deep inside the forest, there were a green giant named Buto Ijo and a sacred hermit. They were best friends since toddlers. One day, the hermit came to the grotto to see his best friend.
Hermit             : Is anyone inside? [Walks inside the grotto]
Buto Ijo           : I’m here.
Hermit             : There you are my best friend, what are you doing?
Buto Ijo           : Eating. Isn’t it obvious?
Hermit             : Oh… I see. What are you eating?
Buto Ijo           : [No response, just continue eating]
Hermit             : You’re so annoying! Can I have some?
Buto Ijo           : [Turns his body away, not willing to share his foods with the hermit]
Hermit             : [Angry] As usual, you never share me your foods though I always shared mine to you! You stingy giant! I loathe you!
Buto Ijo           : As if I care! [Continue eating]
Hermit             : Someday your greed will get its return! Don’t regret it! I’m leaving! [Gets out of the grotto with anger]

Act 2
Narrator           : One day, there was pleasant couple. They lived in a village near the forest. They lived happily. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any children yet. Everyday they prayed to God for a child.
Mother            : Oh God… please give us a child. I promise I will always protect my child. Please answer our prayer. Thank you God.
Narrator           : The green giant, Buto Ijo, coincidentally passed by the couple’s house. He heard what they were praying for.
Buto Ijo           : Whoa…ha…ha…ha! I heard that!
Mother            : [gasps] Oh my God! W-Who are you?
Buto Ijo           : I’m Buto Ijo.
Father              : [comes toward his wife] What’s with the noise? Who is that, honey?
Mother            : Oh my husband, Buto Ijo is in front of our house. I’m scared. He will kill both of us!
Buto Ijo           : Whoa…ha…ha…ha… I’m not going to kill you. But I will fulfill your request to have a child.
Father              : You are just joking, aren’t you?
Buto Ijo           : No…No… I’m serious, yes, I’m really serious. If you don’t believe me it doesn’t matter.
Mother            : All right… All right. My husband, let’s see what he can do to help us.
Buto Ijo           : [Gives the seeds] Look, here are some cucumber seeds. Plant these seeds, then you’ll get a daughter.
Father              : Do you mean it? It’s so easy.
Buto Ijo           : Yes, I mean it. But remember, on her seventeenth birthday, I’ll come back to take the girl.
Mother            : Oh, husband… please I want a child! Let’s try his offer!
Father              : But… Oh well, if you insist, I’ll take his offer.
Mother            : [Bows down] Oh, thank you, husband! Thank you a lot, Buto Ijo!
Buto Ijo           : Whoa…ha…ha…ha. See you again seventeen years from now, humans. And remember your promise. [Go away]

Act 3
Narrator           : The next day, the couple planted the seeds. Months later, a golden cucumber grew in the yard. The cucumber was getting bigger and bigger each day.
Mother            : Look! Look! The cucumber grew very big! It’s so fantastic!
Father              : Yeah, you right. What a very big one.
Mother            : It’s ripe already. Does it work? How can this big thing give us a daughter?
Father              : I don’t know. Don’t ask me.
Mother            : I think it’s time for us to open it up. I wonder what makes it’s so big. Don’t you think so?
Father              : Yes. Let’s cut it into two.
Narrator           :Carefully, they cut the cucumber into two. To their surprise, they found a beautiful baby girl inside the cucumber. How joyful they were.
Mother            : [gasps] Oh my goodness! There is a baby girl inside this cucumber! Is it for real? Or am I dreaming?
Father              : Yes it is. You want me to pinch you to prove it?
Mother            : Err… No thanks. [Holds the baby out] This baby is so cute! God, thank you so much! Thank you so much!
Father              : What will we name her?
Mother            : I think I will name her Timun Mas, husband. Because she came from the cucumber and she is cute. That name really suits her, isn’t it?
Father              : I agree with you.

Act 4
Narrator           : Years passed by and Timun Mas grew into a lovely girl. Her parents were very proud of her but their hearts hurt so badly when they remembered their promise to Buto Ijo. The couple then remembered that there was a sacred hermit living inside the forest. So they went there for the help.
Mother            : [Knocking the door] Excuse us.
Hermit             : [Comes toward the door and opens it] May I ask who you both are?
Mother            : My name is Sarni. This is my husband. We both are farmers living in the village near the forest.
Hermit             : What do you want from me?
Father              :We need your help.
Hermit             : Okay, please come in. Tell me the whole story.
Narrator           : The couple told the hermit about their wish and how Buto Ijo fulfilled it. And also the promise they made with the Giant. The hermit listened to them carefully as him nodded for the umpteenth time, until the couple finished their story.
Hermit             : As expected, Buto Ijo did horrible thing as he wished. His greed explained everything. We need to do something.
Mother            : Please, good Hermit, help us. Don’t let Buto Ijo take one dearest daughter. She’s been with us for seventeenth years.
Father              : My wife is right, good hermit. What shall we do?
Hermit             : Please be still and stop crying. Look, here is the bundle. There are four things and messages inside. They will help Timun Mas run away from the giant.
Father              : [Takes the bundle] Are you sure they will work?
Hermit             : Believe me, it will. Buto Ijo must be punished for his action.
Mother            : Thank you very much, good hermit!

Act 5
Narrator           : It so happened that one day on Timun Mas’s seventeenth birthday, Buto Ijo came for the couple’s promise.
Buto Ijo           : Whoa…ha…ha... Hey, peasant, where is your lovely daughter? I come here to pick her up. Remember the promise you said to me!
Father              : Please be patient, Buto Ijo. Timun Mas, my daughter, is playing in the field.
Buto Ijo           : What a shit! I know you’re lying! But never mind, I’ll find her by myself! [Turns away to find Timun Mas]
Father              : I’m glad he’s gone. Timun Mas, come here, child.
TimunMas       : Yes, daddy, I’m coming. Who’s that?
Mother            : He is Buto Ijo, the green giant. For some reason, he’s looking for you. I’m sure he’ll come back here soon.
TimunMas       : Oh my God, what’ll he do to me?
Father              : Listen to me, Timun Mas, all you have to do is run away from him. [Gives the bundle to Timun Mas] Take this bundle with you. It contains chili seeds, salt, cucumber seeds, and shrimp paste.
TimunMas       : What should I do with these?
Father              : Throw each of them when the giant gets closer to you. These will help you get away from the giant.
TimunMas       : What about you, mom and dad?
Mother            : Don’t worry about us. Oh my God, the giant is coming! Now, run, Timun Mas! Run as fast as you can! Please be careful!
TimunMas : Thank you, mom and dad! You too please take care of yourselves! [Runs away]

Act 6
Narrator           : After that, the giant chased Timun Mas and he was getting closer and closer. Timun Mas then took a handful of salt from the bundle. She spread out the salt and magically a wide sea appeared between them.
TimunMas       : Take that you evil giant!
Buto Ijo           : [Smirks] Ho…ho…ho. You think you can run away from me! No way in hell! Whoa…ha…ha…ha. C’mon I’ll get you! [Swims through the sea]
TimunMas       : Oh my God! How did he do that?? I don’t know he can swim!
Buto Ijo           : Wait for me, you little girl!
TimunMas       : Oh no! He’s getting closer to me. There’s no other choice! Take this, giant!
Narrator           : And then she took the chili seeds and threw them at the giant. Suddenly the seeds grew into some trees and trapped him. The next thing he knew, the trees grew some thorns as sharp as a knife.
Buto Ijo           : Ouch…Ouch! How the hell these trees grew into thorns?? It hurts badly!
TimunMas       : Take that one too, evil creature!
Buto Ijo           : So, you want to play with me huh? You’ll regret it when you lose!
TimunMas       : Oh no! He is still chasing me! I must run faster!
Narrator           : Once again, the giant almost caught Timun Mas. So, Timun Mas took the cucumber seeds and threw them onto the ground.
Buto Ijo           : What now? What’s this? Cucumbers are everywhere! They look delicious! I guess it’s better for me to have appetizers first.
TimunMas       : Hosh…Hosh…Oh I’m out of breath. But the giant was eating the cucumbers. This is my chance to run away!
Buto Ijo           : [Yawns] Whoaaah…I’m very sleppy. I want to sleep first. After that I’ll find Timun Mas. Wait for me girl, I’ll come and make you my dinner tonight!
Narrator           : Timun Mas kept on running as fast as she could. But soon she was very tired herself. And things were getting worse as the giant had woken up.
Buto Ijo           : Whoaaah…I’m fresh again! Hey, Timun Mas, you can’t run away from me. I’ll get you! Hohoho…
TimunMas       : Oh, God, he has woken up! What shall I do, God? Please help me!
Buto Ijo           : So, you want to play hide and seek, don’t you? Where are you? C’mon, c’mon little girl… come to your papa!
TimunMas       : God! Please help me!!
Buto Ijo           : There you are, little girl! One more step and I’ll catch you!
TimusMas        : This is my last hope! [Throws something] Take that, Buto Ijo!
Narrator           : Desperately she then threw her last weapon, the shrimp paste. Magically, the paste turned into a big swamp.
Buto Ijo           : Oh, no, what’s this? It’s so sticky and smells fishy! Timun Mas…! I swear I will swallow you as soon as I catch you!
Narrator           : The giant fell into the swamp but his hands almost reached Timun Mas. Suddenly the swamp pulled him to the bottom and his hands lost her.
TimunMas       : Finally I’m free!
Buto Ijo           : Oh, no… help! Help me! Someone help me!
TimunMas       : No one will help you, giant, because you’re a bad person.
Buto Ijo           : Please help me…!! I swear I won’t do something bad again! Promise me!
Hermit             : [comes out of the blue] Are you sure about your words?
Buto Ijo           : Arggh… Hermit! Finally you come! Please help me!
TimunMas       : [shocks] Who are you?
Hermit             : [Turns his face to Timun Mas] Ah, am I scared you? Let me introduce myself. I am a hermit. So just call me hermit. You don’t need to know my real name. And this giant is my best friend.
Buto Ijo           : Yes, I am his best friend! Please get me out of here!
Hermit             : [Turns back to Buto Ijo] I will help you out if you promise you won’t do bad things again and stop being a greedy person.
Buto Ijo           : Yes, I promise! I promise I will be a good person! You can count on me!
Narrator           : Finally, the good hermit helped Buto Ijo, his best friend. As soon as the giant got out of the swamp, it was disappear. Then the giant apologized to Timun Mas as well as to the hermit. Fortunately they both forgave him. From then on, Buto Ijo lived as a good giant and always helped the peasants with their fields. As for Timun Mas, she lived happily with her parents with no fear anymore.
